Bio

​Deborah is a Principal Criticality Safety Consultant and the Criticality Technical Leader within the NNL Safety, Security & Safeguards team, technically leading a team of eleven criticality specialists. Deborah has been with NNL and its precursors for nearly 25 years, being extensively involved in the provision of technical input to a multitude of projects for a variety of internal and external customers. She was appointed as a Laboratory Fellow in Criticality Safety in 2013 and subsequently a Senior Fellow in 2017, responsible for developing and promoting the NNL technical capability. She has previously fulfilled the role of Criticality Business Manager, which included more extensive responsibilities for both team and business management. 

Deborah has a BSc and PhD in Physics from the University of Warwick, is a Chartered Physicist and is a member of both the Institute of Physics and the American Nuclear Society (ANS). She fulfilled the role of Chair of the UK Working Party on Criticality (WPC) from November 2006 to March 2015, the Chair of the ANS Nuclear Criticality Safety Division (NCSD) from June 2017 to June 2018 and is currently the Chair of the ANS Professional Divisions Committee.
